When creating custom event types have an option to set the lock on any dates entered by default. This is particularly important for historical facts where the date will not change.
This will stop the need to remember to manually set a date lock when creating individual events and will help stop events moving by mistake.
Adding the date lock as a column in the spreadsheet view would also be really useful.
