Calculating character age if they aren't dead but they don't live in the present

Hi All,
I have a novel that primarily takes place in 2019, and I’d like to set birthdates and calculate ages based on that year, not the ‘Present’ that’s calculated when I tick the ‘ongoing’ box. It appears that my best option is to remember to subtract 4 years each time, or maybe to enter each person’s death date as December 31, 2019. But this will pose problems if any of the story stretches into 2020. Hopefully, I’m missing something obvious. Thanks!

@Pommette I have the same problem. What I did was I created an event ie. the opening scene for the story, and linked every character to it. When I click on the event, the inspector shows me all the character related to it, and their ages. I’m not sure if it’s the most elegant solution – I’d wanted a way to limit the timeline to the year my story occurs, as in anchor it in 2018, but I think we can only set the view limits in the timeline, and it still anchors to present time. If there are other options, I’d like to know as well!

In Settings, at the bottom of the Calendar & Date tab, there is a check box entitled “For ongoing item calculations, override current date/time with”

If you tick this box, you can choose what date you wish to be the “present” for your timeline when doing age calculations on events marked as “Ongoing”
