Can't Sync Anything but Manuscript Narrative with Scrivener

Hi,

I’m not sure if I’m missing something really obvious, but I read through all the guides, and tried to find YouTube videos, and went through similar posts on this forum.

I’m trying to sync my timeline with a Scrivener doc on my Mac (most recent updates for both). I can sync the narrative folder just fine, but when I try to sync any of the entities, where I’m supposed to select the timeline items, all I have in the dropdown is None. The characters, locations, etc. don’t show up for me to select. I’ve tried syncing the narrative and closing the programs and going back in, I’ve tried starting with a new Scrivener doc, nothing seems to be working.

Hopefully someone can help me before I lose my mind and copy and paste everything manually. Thank you in advance!

I use keywords which can be imported and Aeon labels as tags. I then create and assign characters , locations, themes, etc using the tags which depend on checking them to be visible. If you add dates as text in custom metadata fields, then you can import the dates for your scenes as well.

Maybe I’m still confused. I want to sync all my characters, locations, etc. from Aeon Timeline to Scrivener. I was under the impression that this was one of the selling points for Aeon Timeline. If I’m understanding correctly, I’m seeing None in these drop-downs because it’s trying to sync FROM Scrivener to Aeon Timeline and there’s nothing created in Scrivener?

I had the same issue at one point! This thread should help:

Thank you for sharing this. I did read through all of it, and try the couple of suggestions listed, but this still isn’t solving my problem unfortunately. I’ll have to contact the team I guess.

Hi @ItsRelly if you’ve read through the other thread linked above, you’ve probably already checked that the box for “Chronological order (always)” is unticked for each of those entities you want to sync.

The other thing to check is that “Narrative order (when explicitly added)” is also unticked on each of them.

THANK YOU @AeonRob! This was the solution. I think it would be great if you could add all these details to your syncing guide for future newbies! Thanks again.

Awesome, I’m really glad that helped!

We’re currently putting together a new guide on syncing, with plenty of info about things like this, which we’re hoping to release soon.
