I upgraded to 3.4.14 and note it is still impossible to sort the character list alphabatically. This is a serious inconvenience for anyone with a relatively long list, even with the use of Groups. I read former requests in the Forum for this feature and note it was under consideration for future releases; in the meantime, the suggestion was to “use Search”, which is not very helpful.

Furthermore, if I select “Manual Order” in Settings/Display/Sorting, it is still impossible to sort them myself. What does Manual Order mean if not for that purpose?

Or is this a bug?

In the latest version, if you go to the character item list tab and select the settings icon in the top right of the tab and choose sort by Label, that sorts the character list alphabetically. The same is true of the setting in the item type setting menu that you mentioned. Setting one automatically sets the other. Manual sort order should allow you to drag and drop the characters into whichever order you prefer. Switching back between either sort order should even preserve any manual sorts that you carried out.

Once each sort order is set this order will be preserved and used in the relationship selection drop-down lists etc.

Sort by Label did not suggest A, B, C to me, so I didn’t even try it. My bad.
