Clarification about the current pricing scheme

Congrats on the launch! I’ve been looking forward for this day for quite some time now.

I’m about to buy the full app, I’m really happy that the license carries over since I am using all three devices and my main worry was that I had to choose which device I would use the app on.

However I do have one question, I saw that updates will only be for 12 months. I just want to ask if this also includes bug fixes and compatibility updates. If something in the app broke and my 12 months expired, would I need to pay again just to have that bug fix?

I understand about having to pay for compatibility and major updates, however I am a bit woried about bug fixes

I can’t answer for Timeline, but most programs simply bundle bug fixes with updates. Only if there is a major security issue will they provide fixes for programs out of maintenance.

In most circumstances you would have to pay again once your updates have expired, however if we introduced a major bug or identified a significant security issue, we will always have the ability to backdate a release if needed so that all affected users can receive it. So you shouldn’t be caught out by a bug introduced immediately before your updates expired.
We wouldn’t backup for compatibility issues though, so if your updates expire and a new OS is released that it no longer works on, you would have to purchase updates again to get the working version.
This is no different from the previous model, given once we released a new major version, the old version wouldn’t receive any updates either except in rare cases.

How about if we need to reinstall after the maintains period is over and we need to download the software again?

Will we be able to use the “license” “log in” for a newer version or do we need to be sure to have a copy of the installer stored locally?

No you won’t have to make sure you have a copy of the installer stored locally.
You will be able to download the latest version from the website or App Store, and when you log in with your license, the application will restrict your access to the features available at the last update within the period you paid for.
