Display historical events with the same year sequentially

I am creating a historical timeline that includes dates of monarchies. The start of one monarchy is the same year as the end of the previous monarchy. For example King One reigns from 1050 BC - 1010 BC, where King Two reigns from 1010 BC - 970 BC. In the timeline, these are shown staggered due to the overlap of 1010 BC.

I have tried the following:

  1. Set a Date Constraint for King Two to start at the end of King One. This worked to show the kings sequentially but it pushed the date for King Two out by one year, which then skews the timeline there after.
  2. Use Month Year date format to allow for the same year for the end of King One and the Start of King Two. This worked to show sequentially and share the same year for the end of King One and the start of King Two, but then the date display shows the month which for the histortical timeline is not correct or appropriate.

As a work around, I can use option 2 and choose not to display the date on the time yet use the summary to note the dates. This doubles the time and effort to create the timeline but is only thing I can figure out to do.

Is there any way I can accomplish this by using the date (year format only) and display the items sequentially?

Thank you!
