Duplicate spreadsheet rows

Hello,
I’m new to Aeon Timeline.
Is it possible to duplicate or copy and paste rows in the spreadsheet view? I have cycles that repeat several times a year in my project management Aeon file. The dates are different, but the projects, tasks and milestones repeat. From what I can tell, one cannot copy a spreadsheet row, much less a set of rows.
Any suggestions for managing these cycles of tasks that repeat without manually typing each item for each cycle? Maybe exporting from AT to a spreadsheet program and then importing just the labels and types? Or maybe labels, types, and duration?
Can I import to the bottom of the AT spreadsheet view?

Thanks,
John Robert

I also find that slightly frustrating, that it can’t be done in the Spreadsheet view. The way to do copy/paste is from the Timeline view. Select the event in Timeline view you want to have copied, press Cntrl-c, then Cntrl-v (the standard copy/paste keyset). A new event called “Copy of <>” will be created, and then you can edit whatever needs to be edited.

When I need to do this I usually have the screen split so that the spreadsheet view is above and the timeline view below and I have the inspector open.

Hope this helps.

I did the export from a selected portion of the spreadsheet view to a spreadsheet. I made some edits in the spreadsheet view and then imported the relevant rows and columns back to AT and that worked pretty well. Dates and other adjustments had to be made, but I got basically what I wanted.

Hope this helps someone else.

Sorry, that wasn’t very clear. I exported from the AT spreadsheet view a TVS file to a spreadsheet program (Numbers, in my case). I made some changes in the spreadsheet program and then exported the results back to the spreadsheet view in AT.

Another workaround is to select View > Show item list. You will get a list of tasks (or whatever you choose) in the sidebar where you can select tasks incl. subtasks to copy and paste them . Not quite what we are looking for, but for me the best way to duplicate returning (groups of) tasks.

Hello C_D,
What is the program context for using the View>Show item list menu command? Do I need to have something selected in the Timeline view or the Spreadsheet view?
When I try the Show Item List command, it displays a carrot, like this: “Show Item List >” but otherwise does nothing. It doesn’t display a submenu of choices, like the View>Inspector command or the View>Filters command. It doesn’t display anything in the sidebar that I can see. Clicking it does nothing.
If there is an easier way to duplicate a repeating set of items, I’d love to know about it.
Thanks,
John Robert

For me it works when I select something in the sidebar (s. screenshot). It’s independent from the actual view, be it Timeline, Spreadsheet or Outline. Maybe you must just wait a few seconds, before the submenu gets filled.

Hope that helps

That does help. I finally located how to add items to the sidebar in the Advanced Settings. Until now, I did not have tasks in the sidebar the way your screen shot shows: the orange check box. So I told the Advanced settings to display both tasks and projects in the sidebar. They now show up in the top set of sidebar icons. The task icon, when hovered over, shows a Toggle Task Panel tool tip, and shows a list of tasks from my timelines when clicked.
But there is still nothing in the Show Item List. From the looks of your screen shot, it seems that you can select in the Show Item List which item (task, status, etc.) you want the program to display in the panel next to the sidebar.
But back to the original question, can I now copy items from this task panel list and somehow paste them into the timeline or spreadsheet view? I have a production cycle that repeats three times a year, so pasting this spring’s timeline into the program and then making changes to it appropriate to next year’s spring cycle is the kind of thing I am after here.
Thanks for your help.
