Family Law | Property & Parenting

I am a self-represented party (not by choice) in federal circuit and family court of Australia for both parenting and property matters, along with navigating parallel police-applied family violence intervention order in magistrates court and related criminal charges in criminal court - with children and myself as protected persons, liaising with numerous organisations and institutions across all matters directly and indirectly related. I have tried so many different trials and programs / apps and this is the only one that really seems to capture the holistic requirements - that often are inter/intrarelated, an event or occurrence that is not yet determined as or how related - without purchasing an enterprise-only heavy software. I began with the legal templates Aaron had in the panel, but upon further browse, it seems that some of the story templates seem more suited. With so much flexibility Aeon, if anything, I have struggled to backlog enter everything - relationship history, financial history, evidence, message logs, financial documents, court events and orders, orders/ tasks and deadlines, issues and allegations, disputed facts and future scenario mapping … etc. I think I am getting overwhelmed with all the options of setting it up and all the linking, tagging, relationship, icon, etc options. Not sure how to keep it simple for my sanity and efficient, effective use of Aeon and depleted resources … and yet worried I will miss out on leveraging all the feature options if I move too far forward and then have to start over and reorganise setup.

  • if anyone out there has any method/ template/ design that is working for elements similar to my needs, please do let me know!
  • can you bulk apply changes?
  • is there anyway to view attachments in the program like a quick view scroll? Possibly, even annotate or bookmark?
  • is there any feature or way to add more calculation capability, such as monetary values and sums/ averages, percentages, eg having an asset value depreciate over time and modelling disputed depreciation schedules, for example - which would link to source documents and relationship to party, and form part of settlement scenario analysis, for example. Or even simply looking to capture disclosure items visually to identify gaps and anomalies - like bank statements, other assets/ liabilities.
  • great for visually overlaying different parenting schedules … however to apply future forward, is there a way to bulk apply a custom entry, like until xx date, fortnightly weekends with parent A, for example?

Welcome any feedback, advice, suggestions.
Thank you!

Hi @Planzthree welcome to the community.

Templates are only a suggested starting point, and any file can be adjusted after it’s created to add and remove things to make it more like other templates.

Which template did you start with? What have you seen in the story templates that you wish you had? We can show you how to do the same things with your file.

I’ll do my best to answer your other questions, but there may be a few things I need to clarify before I can give you a good answer.

Can you bulk apply changes?
You can multi-select items and use the inspector to update all their details at once. In the spreadsheet view, you can select multiple cells with a dropdown option (like colors) and change them all at once.

Is there any way to view attachments in the program like a quick view scroll?
The app doesn’t have a file cabinet as such for viewing all the files that have been individually attached to events. But if you create an item type to use for attachments, similar to how the “Records” item type is used in the Family History template, you can view all your attachments in the side panel, which makes it easy to filter and sort them.

Is there any feature or way to add more calculation capability?
The app can perform simple functions, like calculating the sum, average, min, or max of the figures entered into the property fields of nested items. It can’t do any of the more advanced functions you’re looking for, though.

Capture disclosure items visually to identify gaps and anomalies - like bank statements, other assets/ liabilities.
Could you provide some more info about what you’re picturing for this?

Is there a way to bulk apply a custom entry, like until xx date, fortnightly weekends with parent A, for example?

Repeated events aren’t something the app can do, but you could create a schedule for Parent A and Parent B by duplicating a set of events a few times and using the “Make Consecutive” function to lay them all out end to end.

Makeitemsconsecutive

If you’d like more info on any of that, just let me know and we can go through it in more detail. Also happy to do it over email if you contact us at support@aeontimeline.com
