How to display a vertical line with the mouse cursor?

So I’m using the historical template to build a historical map of the recent 250-year world history based on major countries including the USA, Soviet Union, China, etc, as well as big events like World Wars, natural disasters, etc. In this way, whenever given an event, I can see how that event happened in a time “context” by understanding the real international environment around it.

To achieve this kind of event comparison and analysis, I think it’s important to have a vertical line moving with the mouse cursor (in real-time) so when I point to a specific event, I can see what other events in the world were also happening.

It’s a simple feature but I couldn’t find it in Aeon Timeline 3. Can anyone tell me how to find it?

Thanks.

Acon

This currently isn’t possible in Aeon Timeline 3 (a vertical line only appears when you are dragging events to move them). We will add it to our feature request list.

This ever happen? I don’t see any trace of it in the settings, but just making sure. This would be cool, especially if the date it was on showed up next to it.

No, this isn’t something that has been implemented

Just wanted to put a vote in for this feature!

I find it really hard to compare & visually see the dates of various events in the timeline, especially when I’m very zoomed out and there are a lot of events on the timeline.

I would love to see an option to turn on some kind of vertical line that moves along with the cursor as it hovers around the timeline, and that also can snap to the start date or end date of events.

A great example would be the “hover-skimming” feature in Final Cut Pro. A red line would move with the cursor (without having to click and drag) on the timeline and it would snap to different clips on the timeline.
