How to handle Use Aeon Timeline on two computers with the Same Scrivener Project?

Do I just relink when using on the second computer after updating the project folder to the latest version from Computer 1?
Newbie question, be kind.

Hey @Goaliedad Yes, you’ve got the right idea.

To sync Aeon Timeline and Scrivener between two different computers, you’ll need to relink your project in the sync settings each time you switch between devices.

Just be sure only to select ‘My project has moved’, and not ‘Remove sync’.

For best results, we recommend the following:

  1. Save to the cloud so that both devices are working from the same file.
  2. Only work on one computer at a time, and give it a moment to save and upload before moving between devices. Otherwise, you may have unsaved changes that won’t have had a chance to sync over.

I hope it all goes well. Reach out here or email us at support@aeontimeline.com if you have any other questions

If I save the Aeon Timeline file inside the Scrivener Project file and save the zip backup to the cloud and then unzip the latest backup on the second computer would I be correct that opening that file inside the extracted Scrivener project should work using the method above.

It might be easier to save both files directly to the cloud, provided that the full sync has completed and everything has finished downloading before opening either file.

The zip method will also work, but just creates a couple of extra steps to follow each time.

If you’re on Windows, it would be better to have the timeline file sit in a folder next to the scrivener project and zip the entire thing rather than have the timeline file inside the scrivener folder. On Mac there isn’t really a Scrivener folder at all. It is presented as if it is a file.

If you want to be extra careful while going through the process the first couple of times, make a ‘quarantine’ copy of both files and keep them in a separate folder so you’ve always got a saved version to come back to.

I will save to the cloud but as a zip file initially in the format you suggested till am comfortable and googled windows zipping files.
I used a saved copy of my Scrivener novel to explore Aeon Timeline with in case I made any inadverdant errors. Your articles were very helpful as well the initial videos and some that are online like John Dudley.
It would be great to set up a Aeon Timeline Template section so people could share their creations to showcase what the software can do and help people fine tune for their needs.
thank you
