I use Microsoft OneDrive for storing my .aeon timeline datafiles. I edit these files on two different laptops. OneDrive is made for that.
It seems to me that not all data is stored on OneDrive and that some data is stored local at the location of the Aeon TimeLine program. Could this cause possibly inconsistency?
I think of the question if I open a timeline to proces not yet updated data. Maybe there is other data locally stored what could cause problems?
I don’t use OneDrive, so I can’t comment on it. I believe it is accurate to say that all of a timeline’s data is stored in the timeline file.
I synchronize via USB and Chronosync (basically rsync with a gui) between my iMac and my Macbook. There’s never missing information.
You would probably want to close the timeline on one device before opening it on another.
There are a few global preferences that are not in the timeline file, but they can be changed at any time without any update occurring in the timeline file itself.
Your custom templates can be “synced” if you create an empty timeline with a custom template on one machine then save it as a template on the other.
Are you seeing any problems?
Amontillado is correct, all your timeline’s data is stored in the timeline file.
There are global preferences that are stored locally (these are located under Tools->Options in Windows and Aeon Timeline->Preferences in Mac). This includes the date format to display, the appearance theme and custom templates.
Automatic backups are also stored locally.
