Items showing up under different item types

Hello All,

I am a relatively new user working through some initial timeline setup. In my timeline, I have item types for artist, locations, events, education, etc. In the beginning, when I would click on the location item type on the left side of the screen, for example, only location item would show up. Or when I click on the Events item type, only events would show up.

I must have changed a setting or something, because now I am getting multiple item types showing up when I click each one. For example, my Events item type is now showing artists, locations, and events.

And when I click the Education item type, I am getting Artists that don’t associate with any education types and locations that I haven’t used at all on my timeline. I do also get the one artist that has an education event, but why are all these other things showing up here?

I’m sure it is something simple that I am overlooking, but any help would be appreciated!

Look at the Settings wheel in the upper right corner. Look at the item types and what are the allowed. Especially look at allowed Parent types (ie what things an item can be grouped under). For example, I would probably only group locations under locations, but associate people with a location. see images below. I only allow locations to be nested under other locations. I will show an example in the second image.

See in next image only locations are under locations only parent allowed to nest under.
