You’re halfway down a longish timeline, say, with the filter on Character A only - for instance, as set by clicking the filter in the character pane. You want to see where Character B is quickly at that point without setting up split windows etc., so you click the Character B filter in the character pane - But it doesn’t work because the view scrolls to the top of the timeline. Much better to have it stay at the same position (so that the view is what you’d get if you did create a second window etc.) That way you can click back and forth with a single click each time.
