Picking Characters from Large List

When I go to part of the UI where I have to pick a character from my full list of entered characters, is it possible to have the list be sorted in a specific order? I’ve noticed that they seem to be entirely random now. Used to be alphabetical which was not ideal but better than random. See screenshot.

Ideally, I’d like to be able to designate “main characters” who show up at the top of these lists every time. I have a pretty huge number of characters, as you can see from the size of the scroll bar. And they aren’t even all entered, by a long shot. Every time I want to filter or assign participants I get this list where it takes extra steps to locate the character.

Typing 2 letters with the keyboard will narrow it down sharply, which is good. But it would be even better if main characters were always at the top of these lists. Is that possible?

I manually ordered my names with the POV at the top and they show that way in the character list in the Inspector. But you can create groups and shift where character names appear in the Inspector character list by changing the group order.

That’s it! This gives full control of the sort order. Fantastic.
Before I think it was always alphabetical.

AT3.5 is very quickly becoming immensely useful for my workflow.

Great solution @Goaliedad :muscle: thanks for sharing that.

I’ll just add that assigning a color to a character, or character group, can also help you pick them out if they are part of a long list.

Another very cool addition to v3.5 is the ability to use image avatars on your characters (or any other items).

Check out our new 3.5 guides for more info on how to set it up: Use Image Avatars
