How would I show a change in the size or scale of items on the timeline? For example, population, how can I visually represent it increasing over time? Same with concepts like generation size, cash on hand, etc.

There currently isn’t a way to display a changing size/scale of items over time.
While you can assign various properties such as cash etc. to events, you can only visually see these values by looking at the properties themselves, they are not displayed visually in any way (eg. graph)
Was there a particular type of display that you were thinking of?
Ideally, I would like to have the ability in the timeline view for events that span long enough to be represented as a long bar in a time scale, for that bar width to be configurable. Almost like plotting data in the Y axis over time in the X axis.
I am attaching an image, the red sketched area would be defined as:
July 21 2065 - July 21 2072 Value: 1
July 22 2072 - December 30 2083 Value 5
Connect points with line (an alternative could be a bar graph view instead of a connected line)
