Setting a default year not equal to our current one?

I feel I’ve seen a setting for this in the past, but now I can’t find it.

My novel is set in 1888. When I add a new item using the blank one at the bottom of the Spreadsheet view, clicking the calendar icon for that event assumes I want to use a year close to the current one, i.e. 2021.

Not unreasonable, and I can always type in 1888 instead of clicking the calendar.
That said, it would save a little time if I, on a per-project basis, could tell it what year to assume for a new event.

This setting will do what you want:

It basically tells the app to assume that 1880 is today’s date, as far as your timeline is concerned.

Its primary purpose is so that you can tick “ongoing” to mark that people are still alive in 1880, without implying they are still alive in 2021.

But as it affects everywhere we think of “today”, it also has the nice Easter egg of changing the default date in that date picker for you
