Show age of person as timeline progresses

This might be a feature request if it’s not possible, but here we go.

I’m using Aeon Timeline as a journal of sorts. Sure, there are alternatives out there, but this software thinks like me and I love the personal feeling it has. Also, I want everything in a timeline view.

So as I said, this timeline is events that took place during my life. I’m tracking places I lived, trips I’ve taken, concerts I’ve gone to, pets I’ve had, medical stuff–everything that is worth remembering.

That said, it would be cool to have a way to know how old I was when something on the timeline happened. Ideally it could show at the top in addition to the main timeline, also, it could be a mouseover when you hover over a person bar on a given date (both would be nice as the latter isn’t as limited to 1 person).

I do see that if you add a person to an event, it shows the age the person was at the time of the event, which is cool, but a bit buried for my use case.

I’d also love to know if others have used Aeon in this way! I’ve seen the concert tracker in the templates area, which is cool!

Thanks,

Hi Joe,

This feature already exists. As long as you have assigned a character’s birth date, if you filter the timeline from the Character Item Type panel, to show only that particular character on the timeline, then that character’s age (in years) scrolls along the timeline view at the top. That age changes when their birthday is reached. However, this may not be granular enough for your needs.

I hope that helps.

Andrew.

Of course it does! It was super easy to turn on, too! But you’re right, it doesn’t fit my needs perfectly, it’s close, though! Since my timeline is just about me, I’d like to have that age be up there for all items, not just the ones I’m attached to. The birth of a cousin event, or another person’s birth->death range isn’t something I would give myself a relation to.

Another, more broad way to help get where I’d like is to be able to “sticky” an element. In this case, I would sticky my Person entity. Additionally, it would really be beneficial to have that mouseover “age at the time” that you could hover over like this:
