I would like to sync the Item Type (Event, Location etc.) to Scrivener and use it as Label there. Am I missing something or is this not possible yet?

This is not currently possible.
It is the first time this has been requested, but I can understand the logic behind it.
My only concern is it might be a bit complex if you change the value on the Scrivener side.
When you change an item type, you potentially change which properties and relationships it can have, and so content might be deleted.
Normally we show a prompt to the user right as they make this change warning them of that, and they can decide whether to proceed.
If we allow that functionality when syncing, the user may have changed dozens of item types, but only a few might cause problems. So we would have to somehow prompt the user to warn them about those.
Not impossible, but big potential to lead to confusion if we don’t design it very carefully.
