Sync Scrivener Event summary missing

I’m on Mac Monterey

When I sync between AT v3.4.18 and Scrivener v3.3.5 my first event has a summary but all the following ones do not. Am I missing some aspect of the sync process? I’ve tried to see if there’s some kind of difference between the first event and all the others but can’t discern one.

Cheers

JPS

I had the same issue, this is how I fixed it :

  1. In Scrivener, I moved to the trash the corresponding files of Aeon’s event (keeping it in the trash).
  2. In Aeon, I synced the Scrivener’s project to delete the Event.
  3. Then I rolled back the operation of the corresponding file in Scrivener.
  4. Then I did a search in Aeon to find the Event, and as the Event was marked as “ghost” = “ignored for syncing” in the sync binder, I changed it in the inspector on the right (You have to click a “Change” button next to Timeline under the Linked Items heading to relink it).
  5. After this, I synced again in Aeon and it was possible to update and sync correctly the Summary of an Event (Aeon) with a File (Scrivener).

Note : in Aeon, my buggy Events were presents in the Timeline. I don’t know if it’s important to fix this, but I prefer to mention it.

Best.

I shall try that but at the moment none of my events are in the Timeline. Not sure how to get around this if your method depends on every event having a timeline position.

Thanks

Whereabouts do you see this label “Ghost”?

Ok I think I solved it but what was strange is that it took a few minutes for the summaries to pop up in Scrivener. I had to click on each event (in Scriv) for the summary to then appear.

Thanks for your help. Seems a bit buggy to me and quite a time waster when you hit these problems.

Indeed. It is a waste of time and takes longer to fix when a sync problem happens for the first time. On my side, I didn’t have to wait a few minutes to see the summaries in Scrivener. :crossed_fingers:

Hi JPS,

Thanks for bringing this up! We’ve done some testing and recreated the same issue you’re having with the summaries not immediately populating in certain views after syncing. We’ll be getting in touch with the team at Scrivener to see what we can do to smooth it out.

Which view are you using when experiencing this, Outline or Corkboard?

In case it’s helpful, I’m on a Windows machine and have never had the slightest latency in fields populating in the Windows version of Scrivener. (This sounded a bit snobbish, didn’t it? Sorry, haha.)

Hi there

Here’s a breakdown.

My Aeon project was about 40 events, Story Arcs and Narrative Folders. I had placed half of them into Story Arc folders in narrative view. Some of those narrative folders had story arc sub folders which had events in as well.

When syncing with Scrivener only the first event had a summary in it. All the other events had no summary. A lot of events had no written summary as well just for clarity. I could not see any summaries in Outliner or Corkboard in Scriv.

I then stripped out all events from Story Arc folders and Narrative folders in Narrative view in and deleted all story arc elements. So in the end all I had were events and no arc or narrative folders. ALso no events had dates. I synced and then went back to Scrivener to see and all events still did not have summaries. Even the first event had lost its summary as well. I then moved all events to the trash. Then went back to Aeon to see if the events were still there in some way and they were. I then pulled the events from trash in Scrivener and synced again. Summaries still did not appear. Since I created back ups I went through this process a few times in slightly different ways and then for some reason summaries appeared in Scrivener. I lost track of how I did it I’m afraid.

Thanks for clarifying. Our dev team will look into it and see what we can find out.
