Timescale Range - Fixed v Continuous

Is it possible to give the Timescale a discrete scale with a visible number rather than a continuous slider (or both)?

This is helpful when exporting and printing to ensure all exports are the same scale.

Hi @Justalex it’s not possible in the current version of the app, but it will be in the next major release (3.5) which will be out before the end of the year (launching in beta today).

You’ll have the option to click to select the timescale to days/months/decades, etc, or click “custom” to set it with the slider.

I just read this on your website -

"Our pre-release beta builds can be unstable, so create a backup copy of your files before opening them. It is important to note that files you open in a beta build may become incompatible with stable release builds."

If I join the Beta program today does this mean everything I enter from today could be unreadable by the next stable release with no way to transfer the info to the stable release?

Sorry for the late reply to your question. I was away for a few weeks and just getting to running through my notifications list now.

You’ll really only run into issues if you leave the beta program and roll back to an earlier version of the app. Any files you’ve opened in the beta version will show as read only and will be uneditable.

The beta is essentially an early test version of the next release, so any work you do in the beta will be compatible with future stable releases.

If you were still interested in joining the beta, we’ll be doing another intake in a week or two. If you apply now, there will be a short delay before you’re accepted.

To add on to this:

You’ll really only run into issues if you leave the beta program and roll back to an earlier version of the app. Any files you’ve opened in the beta version will show as read only and will be uneditable.

If you leave the beta and roll back to the stable version, you will need to restore a back-up from before you started using the beta.

The app will automatically create a backup for files opened in beta version 3.5 for this purpose*. You can also create your own backups files and use those if you need to roll back.

Beta versions include the latest features but may contain more bugs or receive frequent updates. For that reason, we recommend only beta testing when you’re not working on any critical projects.

*Just to note: The current beta is quite large, which is why we’ve set the app to automatically create backup files when using it. For the benefit of others who might read this post in the future, minor betas won’t automatically create backups, so we recommend always maintaining your own backup files when beta testing.
