Is there a way of generating a link, not to a whole timeline file, but to a specific entry, such that the timeline could be opened by an external app and the focus would navigate to the item in question? My model here is Zotero’s ability to create a link of the form zotero://select/library/items/[unique item identifier] that can be inserted into a document or added to a mindmap and will take me to the entry with just one click. Would be very useful, especially with complex timelines.

No this isn’t currently available, but it is something that has been asked for before and is on our feature request list to look at implementing in the future.
